Recipe Friday: Cinnamon Pull-Aparts
I'm getting ready to host close family members this weekend. I always like to make sure they feel loved by making some of my favorite meals. Sunday morning is always a tough time since we're usually in the middle of craziness getting ready for church, but I made these "pull aparts" the first time for Father's Day morning, and I tell ya, they are easy, are basically made the night before yet cooked in the morning so they're fresh from the oven and oh... so, so yummy!!! These are a good substitute for a sweet breakfast when you don't have time for a full recipe of cinnamon buns.
Cinnamon Pull-Aparts
20 frozen dough buns
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 Tbsp. Ground cinnamon
Vanilla pudding powder (not instant), 6 serving since measuring about 7-8 Tbsp.
1/2 cup raisins, optional
1/2 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped (optional)
1/3 cup hard margarine or butter
2 Tbsp golden corn syrup (white works too!)
Arrange frozen buns in a greased 12 cup bundt pan (I did it in a caserole dish and it worked well. I was concerned the middle would not be baked, so after the top was brown, I turned the casserole dish over onto a platter that was oven safe and put it in the oven a little longer).
Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, pudding powder, raisins and pecans. Sprinkle over buns.
Heat and stir margarine and corn syrup together in small saucepan until melted. (NOTE: I did it in the microwave and it worked fine!) Drizzle over sugar mixture on buns. (NOTE: I doubled the butter amount by accident but it was delicious!!!)
Cover the pan with a large WET tea towel. Let stand on the counter for 7 to 8 hours or overnight, until doubled in size.
Bake in 350 degree oven for about 25 minutes. (Longer if you use a casserole dish).
Let stand for five minutes. Turn out onto plate.
Serve with coffee, juice, and a fruit salad! Happy Breakfast!
